About Us
The Mama Toolkit is a library of digital guides and tools designed to make modern motherhood a little more manageable. They're not prescriptive and they won't fix everything — but they will give you something concrete to work with: frameworks to think through, scripts to borrow, and language to name what you're experiencing. Get what's useful to you at your stage on the parenting journey. Leave what isn't. Come back when you need it.
About the Founder
I'm Alex. Before I had kids, I had systems, I'd run my own business for 15 years and I had a home that stayed mostly on top of itself, and a general sense that I was a competent, organised adult who could handle things.
Then I became a mother.
What I wasn't prepared for was the sheer cognitive weight of it. The relentlessness. The way everything I thought I knew about myself got quietly dismantled and handed back to me in a form I didn't quite recognise. I thought I was struggling because I wasn't cut out for it. It took me an embarrassingly long time to realise that what I was experiencing wasn't personal failure — it was an almost universal feature of modern motherhood that just doesn't get talked about honestly enough.
That's why I built The Mama Toolkit.
I'm a mum of two boys, based in Canberra, and I've spent years sitting with the gap between what motherhood is supposed to look like and what it actually feels like from the inside. The Mama Toolkit is the collection of tools, frameworks, and guides I wish had existed when I was in the thick of it. They're practical, they're honest, and they're built around the reality that most mothers are doing an enormous amount — often invisibly, often without acknowledgement — and deserve resources that take that seriously.
This is a one-woman operation. There's no team, no VC funding, no wellness brand behind it. Just me, a deep interest in the research, and a genuine belief that making things slightly more manageable for mothers is worth doing.
What You'll Find Here
The Mama Toolkit is organised around five themes that together cover the full terrain of modern motherhood — not to overwhelm you, but because these things don't exist in isolation. You can start wherever feels most relevant right now.
Matrescence, Motherhood + Burnout
The identity shift that comes with becoming a mother is real, significant, and almost entirely unacknowledged. This collection names what's happening and gives you tools to work with it.
Partnership, Household Labour + The Mental Load
If you're carrying more than your share at home — and most mothers are — this collection helps you understand why, and gives you language and frameworks to start redistributing it.
The Motherhood Penalty
Having children costs women more than it costs men, in ways that play out over decades. This collection looks at the financial and professional realities of motherhood in Australia, without softening the edges.
Home + Logistics
The systems and routines that keep a household running are real work. This collection is about making that work lighter — not perfect, just more manageable.
Parenting Skills + Kids
From communication to behaviour to raising children who understand fairness, this collection covers the practical side of actually raising the humans in your care.
How It Works
Everything in The Mama Toolkit is a downloadable digital product — guides, frameworks, audit tools, and trackers you can use in your own time, at your own pace. There's no subscription, no app, no program to complete. Buy what's useful, use what fits, come back when you need it.
